Power Management Module

The Power Management Module (PMM) has been designed to allow the SPECTRE autopilot to remotely turn on and off power to modules. The PMM can be controlled remotely with the RCW operator interface, or SPECTRE can be set to control a PMM automatically based on requirements, such as to turn on scientific sensors for a set amount of time each day or when a waypoint is reached. The PMM has the following features:

  • 6 output channels per PMM
  • Up to 8 PMMs on one RS422 bus
  • Up to 10 automatic restarts on each channel after tripping
  • Configurable delay between each retry
  • Up to 2.4A per channel, maximum of 10A per PMM
  • 12V input voltage
  • Higher current and voltage capabilities possible on request
  • Two of the 6 channels can automatically turn on at power up
  • Voltage and current monitoring over the RS422 bus
  • Intuitive front end software allows the user to:
    • Set startup delay
    • Number of auto retries after a trip
    • Time between retries
    • If the channel will attempt to auto retry
    • Tip current
    • Power on startup
    • Turn the output on or off, and see if it has tripped
    • Average and peak current draw
    • Voltage at output
    • View comms
